Message from Director
Let me welcome you to the Institute of IR4.0 (IIR4.0), formerly known as IVI
The establishment of Institute of IR4.0 (IIR4.0) was originally set up from the rebranding of the Institute of Visual Informatics (IVI) in March 2020. The research’s carried out in IIR4.0 cover the latest emerging technologies that are the cornerstone of IR4.0 such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality, Autonomous Systems, System Integration, Additives Manufacturing, Big Data Analytics, Robotics, and Cyber Security.
The Institute is privileged to have a credible International Advisory Board comprising of high profile individuals from academia and industry both nationally and internationally that represent countries from United Kingdom (UK), Europe, Taiwan, and Malaysia. IIR4.0 has 15 Principal Research Fellows and more than 50 Associate Fellows from different disciplines including Engineering, Computer Science, Medical, Social Science and Economy.
The Fellows and Associate Fellows of the Institute are experienced researchers (100% PhD holders) who are all passionate and dedicated to their respective fields of research with a wide industrial collaborations experience. They have published their findings at various high impact journals and are recipients of various research and innovation awards both at the national and international levels. Postgraduate students (Masters by research and PhD) are vital to the Institute’s research. As they research, design and develop new inventions and innovations, they stimulate the Institute’s larger research effort and contribute to the advancement of the field in IR4.0. The Institute has fostered research collaborations and links with universities and industries both nationally and internationally.
We intend to continue and expand these collaborations so that our postgraduate students and research fellows can acquire value added knowledge that will make them innovators and entrepreneurs of the future. We have been able to attract students both locally and internationally who want to work at the frontier and leading edge research in IR4.0 areas particularly on Intelligent Data Analytics, System Integration and IoT, Mixed Reality and HCI, and Modeling and Simulation.
